November 21, 2023

In the heart of Brookline, a small school is doing big things!

The compassionate spirit of Washington Square Academy (WSA) students is shining through as they get ready for their annual Month of Sweet Giving. This month-long initiative has become a cherished tradition at the academy, where students channel their creativity and generosity to benefit local nonprofits including the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

This year, the students are putting their crafting skills to good use by designing and creating cozy dog beds and toys for the animals at the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The initiative not only brings joy to the animals but also instills in the students the lessons of empathy, kindness, and the importance of giving back.

Leaders at WSA recognize the importance of nurturing a sense of community and social responsibility among their students. For the past four years, the academy has been actively involved in various charitable projects, emphasizing the positive impact even the youngest of people can make when they come together for a common cause. The academy’s leadership is dedicated to helping students understand the immense benefits of giving back to the community and fostering a spirit of philanthropy.

“We believe that instilling a sense of social responsibility in our students is crucial for their personal development,” says Jenny Ho, Founder of Washington Square Academy. “The Month of Sweet Giving is an opportunity for our students to experience the joy of making a positive impact on their community.”

The WSA community is extending an open invitation to others in the Brookline area to join their cause.  Families are invited to join WSA students and faculty on December 13, 2023 from 3:30-5:30 at Washington Square Academy, 1619 Beacon Street in Brookline for a delightful afternoon of holiday treats, crafting dog beds, and getting in the spirit of giving back!  Register here to reserve your spot!
